Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls - I would like to introduce you to the Lions Of Punjab. An ensemble of musicians and entertainers that specialise in the art of classic Punjabi folk music - Bhangra.

These performers are united together by their unique and specialist skill set e.g. energetic Dancers, hard hitting Dholis (Percussionists) and powerful vocalists. The above ingredients combined present the piece de resistance - the Lions.

 

This energetic and audacious group of entertainers have managed to collate a mixture of styles and variations in Bhangra dancing to create their own unique take on the classic folklore dance. From humble beginnings - performing occasionally at weddings and local functions; they have grown from strength to strength in their quest to keep their culture alive by displaying their finesse on some of the biggest and best stages worldwide. The Lions now boast a résumé consisting of innumerable performances ranging from extraordinarily flamboyant wedding receptions to internationally acclaimed music videos as well as a once in a lifetime performance for HRH Majesty Queen Elizabeth & HRH Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace no less. One simply has to applaud the above feat.

 

The talented percussionists have mastered their trade and play the Dhol live to accompany the Dancers and Vocalists by setting the rhythm and providing the earth shuddering backdrop of beats. The Dhol has always been a part of Punjabi Bhangra providing the dancers with the pulsating sounds that touch ones soul. Anyone who hears the Dhol being played at full volume can appreciate the acoustic amazement it provides.

 

To complete the package, the expansive vocalists utilise their melodious voices to provide a range of musical flavours including current music in the Punjabi Bhangra market, to executing old school classics that will provide a welcome treat for both the young and old. Without the Live Vocalists, The Lions would just be a straight forward act which are available for a penny a dozen throughout the UK. The Lions provide an extra finishing touch to a complete entertainment package that definitely creates the right atmosphere for any special occasion.
